It was quiet. A nice change from the usual pace of loud captains and snoring marimos.

He watched with detached fascination as the smoke from his cigarette swirled and twirled up into the night sky.

When he was a kid, Sanji had tried to count all the stars and he’d been sure he had it right. At least until the shitty old man had kicked him in the head and given him a basic astronomy lesson. He still tried to count them all anyway.

His mouth drew up in a smile as he thought about his own twirling. It was nice to take a break every now and then. Keeping the ladies in a constant pampered state was a little draining and he really did need to take a little more time for himself.

The slight breeze from the ocean brushed across his bared chest and fluttered gently at his open shirt. He could smell the sunrise coming, just a few hours away, and knew it wouldn’t be long before there were feet thumping across deck and voices hollering for their breakfast.

He didn’t make to move from his spot against the railing. Just a little longer wouldn’t hurt.
