Title: All I want is to be saved

Rating: M for blood and not quite death

Pairing: Hachi/Camie

A/N: This was promptage given to me by my evil wench, nonoji - The pairing then "Blood and Ice".

She continually feared for her life and having so many people – creatures – after her, it was so easy to become distracted as to what was around her. She vaguely felt the spears as they entered her flesh, tearing at muscle and breaking bone, ice water filling the wounds as she screamed silently.

All she wanted was to be saved. She didn’t have the right to such selfish thoughts, as it was her own fault for never listening to others but she had no desire to be kept and to die by the hands of cruelty.

A tug on the impaled rod protruding from her stomach and darkness shrouded her vision. Her surrounds became a blur and all she could see was a shadow looming before her, getting bigger and bigger.

A wash of movement passed her head and the pulling on her body stopped, followed by the feeling of a lead weight in her chest and she began to sink, blood flowing free from her abused body and clouding the clear water above. At the edge of unconsciousness, the feeling of being wrapped in a blanket and held by her mother edged its way in.

Her head broke the surface and she breathed shallowly, the feeling of pain giving way to numbness. Voices drifted in her ear causing her to twitch and try to focus on what was happening to her. The voices sounded desperate and so very scared.

“Cai-? Caime! Come-! Wak-!”

She pried her eyes open and found herself staring into black eyes. She blinked slowly and recognised her saviour for who he was. She tried to smile but her mouth did not want to work properly. It must have reached her eyes because Hachi breathed a sigh and held to her tightly. The icy feeling of death in her veins gave way to warmth and she allowed herself to drift into sleep, dreams filled with laughter and loving touches.
