Title: I Owe You
Rating: PG
Pairing: Hanzorou/Sanjeen
A/N: Detective Loomes AU
A/N: For Syb. And she's right. There really isn't enough of these two~

Dulled street lights flickered, casting long shadows and plunging side alleys into complete darkness. The street itself was void of any people but the fear that drove them indoors was still pungent in the air. Hanzorou's hand caressed the hilt of his favoured sword and several doors slammed hard. There was a distinct sound of locks being thrown.

He trod silently over rough ground all the while grumbling about the lack of potential victims. He wondered if they'd finally realised his hunting routine. He hated being predictable.

His gaze zeroed in on a moving shadow and he smirked as a figure stepped away from one of the buildings. There was a flare of a match dispelling the immediate darkness and then the cherry red light of a cigarette pinpointed his target. The gleam in Hanzorou's eye turned manic and his fingers tightened around his sword's hilt, sliding an inch of polished steel free.

A slight breeze moved across the street, carrying the scent of burning tobacco and the tail end of a feather boa danced into the poor light. Hanzorou took several steps towards the figure and a blue eye gazed at him, calm and composed. He drew his sword, so fast that most wouldn't see it, and swung the blade with deadly precision.

He stopped dead as it touched the pale neck.

Sanjeen smirked at him and blew out a thin stream of smoke, cocking the pistol that was currently aimed at his balls. Hanzorou took another step closer, chest almost flush with Sanjeen's. His blade slid across skin, leaving a red scratch in its wake. Sanjeen raised an eyebrow and dragged his pistol over Hanzorou's stomach, settling it up and under his ribs with a hard nudge. Hanzorou leaned in closer, his mouth just shy of touching Sanjeen's, and gold stared challengingly into blue.

The world paused for a beat as it waited for the silent battle to end. A ways down the dark street, loud voices began to ricochet off the buildings. Hanzorou glanced over Sanjeen's shoulder searching for the disturbance and the moment was broken.

He removed his blade slowly but not before exerting a little extra pressure, nicking the pale flesh, and a trickle of bright red slid down Sanjeen's neck and under his collar. Hanzorou stared at the colourful line and licked at his bottom lip. He looked Sanjeen in the eye and smirked, a promise underlying his expression.

He re-sheathed his sword and continued on his way. The sound of a hammer being set again was loud in his ears and it sounded oddly disappointed. They would have to meet again.
