The world shifted out from beneath them; cracking, tearing, the pieces clashing together, a maelstrom of suffering and hatred pouring from both sides of the ever widening chasm. Blood ran rivers and the death count only grew.

 

Bones ground together, the sound too loud over rapid gunfire. “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.”

 

An appropriate non-sequitur if there ever was one. They refused to look down. “And if it is broken?”

 

Slow inhale, “Put it down like a dog.”

 

A repressed growl, “Asshole.”

 

The smell of cigarettes is lost under the coarse scent of gunpowder and burning buildings. “It’ll be fine.”

 

“Fuck you.”

 

“No time, but then there never is.”  A tiny smile and fingers graze a bloodied palm.

 

Hands are crushed in a tight grip. “I-”

 

“Follow me to hell?”

 

A jaw clenches, a moment passes and there is a tight nod. They hold each other up, half-dead, bleeding and broken. They step forward and don’t falter as they go to meet their end.

*blinks* Kinda morbid, but then again, it's zoro and sanji... And I like the hand-holding in the midst of all the chaos, but why the last line! They always survive. :D Right? *grins*

OMG I LOVE LOVE the totally clear imagry you made here. I can picture the world going to hell around them and Sanji subtley encouraging Zoro with his snark when they both are suffering from serious injuries.
