“Aniki.”
Something poked his cheek and his hand lashed out, connecting with a probable nose. There was a yelp in his ear. Yep, it was a nose. He cracked his eyelids and made a face at the blond hair in his vision.
Wait… that was the wrong colour blond. His eyes popped open and Yosaku, hands covering his face, un-blurred.
“Huh. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that Luffy let you on the ship but when did you get to the Grand Line?”
His friends stared at him and Zoro swore they looked…sad. “What?”
They turned to each other and had a silent conversation. They only did that when they were uncertain and reluctant to speak.
Apparently Johnny lost and he twitched as his eyes met Zoro’s. “Aniki… Zoro…” Zoro frowned. They never said his name like that. “There is no ship.”
Zoro stared. “What the hell are you talking about?”
Blinding light poured into the room as Yosaku drew the curtains apart and Zoro stilled as he took in the skyline.

“What?” Zoro shook his head and stilled when long hair fell over his face.
“Aniki?” Johnny reached out and at the touch of a hand on his skin, Zoro flinched away.
“Ahh… Sorry. No. It’s fine. I’m good. Just need to wake up. Weird dreams and all.”
He could feel two sets of concerned eyes on him as he made his way out the door. He stumbled into an unfamiliar bathroom and stared at his reflection.
His feet knew this place: the layout, the floor under his bare feet, the grooves in the wall where his fingers touched.
Maybe it really was a dream and maybe he really was imagining the taste of nicotine on his lips.
